Living in a World of Smiles

Thailand has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I was advised by many people that this is a cruel and dangerous place. However, this has been a dream of mine for a while. So, I decided not to heed the advice and go with my gut. While I know there is danger everywhere, I’ve never felt more secure. It’s true what they say, this really is the land of smiles. The Thais are selfless, kind and inviting.

I feel that when it comes to traveling to foreign places, people tend to base their opinions on the negatives they hear; whether it be in the news, from a co-worker, a family member or friend. Judging a place, country, or state based off of what you hear is ignorant. Nevertheless, Thailand has proven to be everything I had ever dreamed of. Everyday I am constantly amazed by how well I am treated. I will go to my favorite food stall or restaurant and since the first day I have visited, I have been treated like family. They will memorize my picky and healthy order, and serve it with a smile of joy thats not even fake! The servers don’t get tipped, yet they will do everything they can to make you happy (they won’t even roll their eyes when they turn around). Thais are happy, relaxed, and giving. Here, attitude is everything, and when you live in a world that a negative attitude is uncommon, it makes for a better place of living. Thailand has showed me that attitude is paramount and that a smile is contagious.
